An electrocardiogram (or ECG) test uses a machine to measure and record the electrical activity of your heart. The ECG records a patient’s heart pattern and can give your doctor important information about the heart.
Electrodes are placed on your skin, and the ECG records the electrical activity of the heart muscle and displays the results on paper or a screen. Your doctor then interprets the ECG reading.
